“What is an end-point assessment and why it happens”
The End-Point Assessment (EPA) is the final assessment you complete at the end of your apprenticeship. It checks that you can do your job confidently and to the standard expected in your occupation.
During the EPA, you will be assessed on the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) that are set out in your apprenticeship standard. These describe what you need to know, what you need to be able to do, and how you should behave at work.
Your apprenticeship training and on-the-job experience are designed to help you build these KSBs over time, so nothing in the EPA should come as a surprise.
The EPA is carried out by an independent assessor, not your tutor or employer. This makes sure the assessment is fair and consistent for everyone.
The EPA is your chance to show what you can do in practice and demonstrate that you are ready to work competently in your role.
